Have you ever spent hours reading your notes only to feel like none of them actually stuck? You keep reading and revising, and you still don't feel you're ready for the test.

That might not be your fault. You might simply be using a study method that doesn't match your natural learning style, and once you know what works best for you, things can change fast.

Why it's so important to know your Learning Style

When you study in a way that suits your brain, learning feels natural and you remember more in less time.

Knowing your Learning style helps guide you to how you take in and process information best. Most people don't even know what their learning style is, but once you know, you will be amazed. Absolbing information becomes to much easier, so much quicker and way more natural. It's like you're not studying at all! Most people lean toward one of these three Learning Styles:

🎨 Visual  🎧 Auditory 🤸 Kinaesthetic

The key differences between the Learning Styles

🎨 Visual Learners

If you learn best through seeing and through visual information, these are some of the study methods you can use:

  • Creating and recreating mind maps or diagrams
  • Colour coding your notes
  • Watching videos or drawing timelines
  • Using visual organisers or flow charts

🎧 Auditory Learners

If you learn best through listening, here are some ideas:

  • Recording your notes and listening to them back
  • Studying with a friend and explaining concepts aloud
  • Talking through your revision like you're teaching someone else
  • Listening to subject-related podcasts

🤸 Kinaesthetic Learners

If you learn best by doing and moving, try these:

  • Using flashcards and physically moving them around
  • Walking while reciting your notes
  • Building models or acting things out
  • Studying in short bursts with physical breaks in between

No matter your learning style, the key is to make your study method work for you.

Many students waste time using methods that just don't click. Understanding your style can make your study feel more effective and more enjoyable. And faster!
