The Bridge

You understand the framework. Now you need the skills.

If you've completed Level 1, you understand why some study methods work and others don't. You know the difference between passive and active study. You understand the five-step QUEST framework.

But understanding the framework isn't the same as being able to apply it.

You might be thinking:

  • "I know I should study actively, but how do I actually do that?"
  • "I understand what a core foundation is, but how do I build one for Chemistry? Or Ancient History?"
  • "I know highlighting doesn't work, but what should I do instead?"
  • "I get that I should test myself, but what does that actually look like?"

That's exactly what Level 2 is for.

Level 2 takes the framework and turns it into practical skills. This is where we learn specific techniques, see concrete examples, and get guided practice across different subjects.

If Level 1 was the map, Level 2 is learning how to navigate.

THE SOLUTION

What this course does

QUEST Study Skills Framework - Level 2 gives us the practical tools to implement each step of QUEST. We'll learn how to create effective notes, study actively, prepare for exams, and customise strategies for our personal learning style and different subjects.

This is an application course. We're not just talking about concepts anymore. We're learning techniques, seeing examples, and getting guided practice.

You'll learn specific strategies for:

  • Creating notes that actually help you study (not just record information)
  • Building mind maps and visual study materials
  • Using active recall techniques that improve memory
  • Preparing for different types of exams and assessments
  • Managing study time without feeling overwhelmed
  • Adapting your approach for different subjects
  • Dealing with motivation dips and distractions

The difference from Level 1:

  • Level 1 = Understanding the what and why
  • Level 2 = Learning the how and when

Level 1 taught you the principles. Level 2 teaches you the practice.

What you'll learn

The course modules (detailed)

Level 2 follows the QUEST framework but goes deep into the practical application of each step.

Module 1: Questioning in Practice

Beyond understanding why questions matter. Learn what to ask and when.

You'll learn:

  • How to analyse assessment tasks and extract what actually matters
  • How to turn syllabus dot points into actionable study questions
  • How to identify what type of thinking each subject requires (analysis vs. memorisation vs. application)
  • How to ask questions that guide your study instead of overwhelming you

Practical outputs:

  • Question frameworks for different subjects
  • Templates for breaking down assignments and exam topics
  • Real examples across Maths, English, Science, Humanities

The skill you'll build: Knowing exactly what to focus on before you start studying.

Module 2: Building Your Core Foundation

From understanding what a core foundation is to actually creating one for your subjects.

You'll learn:

  • How to create core foundations for different subject types
  • How to extract key concepts from textbooks, lectures, and notes
  • How to identify connections between ideas (not just list them)
  • How to organise information visually and logically
  • How to know when your foundation is "strong enough"

Practical outputs:

  • Note-taking systems that build understanding
  • Mind mapping techniques for visual learners
  • Methods for connecting information across topics
  • Templates you can reuse term after term

The skill you'll build: Creating study materials that actually help you learn, not just record.

Module 3: Establishing Your Strategy

Turning learning preferences into actual study strategies that fit you and your subjects.

You'll learn:

  • How to choose strategies based on subject type (Maths vs. English vs. Science)
  • How to adapt strategies for different assessment types (essay vs. exam vs. presentation)
  • How to mix and match techniques instead of relying on one method
  • How to know when a strategy isn't working and what to change

Practical outputs:

  • Strategy selection frameworks
  • Subject-specific study approaches
  • Examples of what active study looks like for different learning preferences
  • Troubleshooting guide when methods don't work

The skill you'll build: Making deliberate, informed strategy choices instead of copying others.

Module 4: Studying Actively

The practical techniques that make active study actually work.

This is the biggest module because active study is where most students struggle.

You'll learn:

  • How to use active recall (testing yourself effectively)
  • How to implement spaced repetition without fancy apps
  • How to create practice questions when you don't have any
  • How to use the Feynman technique (explaining to learn)
  • How to study with past papers and mark schemes
  • How to make flashcards that actually work (and when NOT to use them)
  • How to do active reading (not just passive highlighting)

Practical outputs:

  • Active study techniques for every subject type
  • Templates for self-testing
  • Examples of good vs. bad flashcards
  • Study session structures that prevent passive drift

The skill you'll build: The ability to study in ways that create recall, not just recognition.

Module 5: Testing and Evaluating

Using testing as a learning tool and evaluating what's working.

You'll learn:

  • How to test yourself while studying (not just before exams)
  • How to use practice exams effectively
  • How to analyse what went wrong after a test (and adjust)
  • How to give yourself feedback that actually helps
  • How to track improvement over time without obsessing

Practical outputs:

  • Self-testing schedules
  • Reflection frameworks
  • Test analysis templates
  • Improvement tracking methods

The skill you'll build: The ability to learn from every study session and test, not just hope for the best.

What you'll walk away with

After completing Level 2, you'll have:

Practical skills you can use immediately

Not just concepts—actual techniques you can start using this week for your next test.

A toolkit that works across all your subjects

The strategies adapt to Maths, English, Science, Languages and Humanities subjects. You'll know how to adjust for different subjects.

Confidence in creating your own study materials

Notes, mind maps, flashcards, practice questions, and audio notes. You'll know how to make them effective, not just pretty.

The ability to study actively (not just passively read)

You'll know what active study feels like and how to do it, even when it's uncomfortable at first.

Strategies customised for how you learn

You'll know how to adapt techniques for your learning preferences without limiting yourself.

A system for preparing for any type of assessment

Whether it's an essay, exam, presentation, or project, you'll have a process to follow.

The ability to evaluate and improve your approach

You won't just blindly follow methods. You'll know how to tell what's working and adjust what isn't.

Skills that grow with you

These aren't just "Year 10 tips." These are techniques you'll use through senior school, university, and beyond.

Who this course is for

This course is perfect for:

Students who've completed Level 1

You understand the framework. Now you're ready to apply it.

Students who know they should "study actively" but don't know how

You've heard the advice but never been shown what it actually looks like.

Anyone wanting to improve their grades without just "studying more"

More hours ≠ better results. Better methods = better results. This course teaches better methods.

Students preparing for important exams (Year 10, 11, 12)

When the pressure is on, you need strategies that actually work, not just hope and effort.

Students who've tried study tips before but couldn't make them stick

Tips without a system don't work. Level 2 gives you the system AND the techniques.

Students who want customised approaches

We show you how to adapt strategies for how you learn best, without boxing you into one method.

Parents who want to teach their children effective study skills

Learn the techniques so you can guide your child with confidence.

Students who feel overwhelmed by "too much information"

We break everything down step by step. No overwhelm. Just clear, practical guidance.

What students have said

Angela, Year 10

"I learned new techniques that I may apply within my school work and assignments. The most helpful part was probably the part where we learnt about how we should tackle certain problems and the tips we could use."

Andy, Year 11

"It's great! I've learned a lot and now I finally know how to manage myself properly... Quest Study Skills did help me a lot, especially in the part where we should manage our time well."

Jasmine, Year 10

"I usually get bad grades but after doing the study skills I have noticed that my grades have changed from C-D to A-B. I manage my time and I don't need to stress over not finishing my assignments on time."

Nicole, Year 10

"I find this course very useful. Personally, I think it will improve my study skills and also my time management. Denise has made this class / course enjoyable and fun than I expected. I have gained a lot of knowledge from these lessons."

What this course isn't

Setting expectations

This course is not a magic solution that makes studying effortless. Active study takes work. We make it effective, not easy.

This course is not subject-specific tutoring. We don't teach you content (like how to solve quadratic equations). We teach you how to study that content effectively.

This course is not a productivity system focused on time management. For planning and organisation, check out the 60 Days of Study Planning course. Level 2 focuses on how to study during those study sessions.

This course requires Level 1 understanding. If you don't understand the difference between passive and active study, or why understanding comes before memorising, Level 2 will feel confusing. Start with Level 1.

What it IS: A comprehensive, practical course that teaches you how to implement the QUEST framework with specific, proven techniques across all your subjects.
